About
“The McGlade Gallery is a dynamic part of the Strathfield community. We offer an inclusive space where everyone is welcome. We celebrate cultural diversity and creative expression through a range of free art and design exhibitions featuring works by ACU students, staff, alumni, local artists and industry professionals. With a focus on emerging talent, the McGlade Gallery is a local hub for creativity and artistic exploration..”
Director’s Statement
All of our exhibitions are open to the public and everyone is welcome! We strive to offer accessible workshops, seminars and panel discussions for the public alongside our exhibitions.
The McGlade Gallery is also a vital teaching and learning resource. I encourage all Visual Art and Design students to consider the space as a laboratory in which to explore, experiment and gather data. And, importantly, in the gallery students are also exposed to work by professional artists. In fact, in our annual initiative The Local, students are able to exhibit alongside experienced art and design professionals.
For any creative practitioner, presenting your work to the public is a rite of passage. The McGlade Gallery exhibition program offers students several opportunities each year to exhibit their work to the public, including The Local, The SCS and ACU Portrait Prize and the annual graduation exhibition.
In the gallery, ACU students are given the chance to learn from a wide range of external professionals, see a clear career trajectory for themselves in the field, and to forge real-world professional networks, helping to prepare them for “future-ready career outcomes” as outlined in ACU’s Vision 2033.
Everything we do in McGlade Gallery is underpinned by the firm belief art and design can be powerful forces for fostering thriving communities, building an ethical future and contributing to the greater good.
